ENTRECASTEAUX CRICKET CLUB SEASON 2006

Sean Burke, ECC's former Captain over recent years worked expertly and indefatigably building up the club to itspresent dominating position in the South Eastern League. Sean has had to step down from his central role in the administration of the Club for family reasons and has handed over organisation of the upcoming 2006 season to a talented and hardworking Committee.

This Committee has been working away since the close of the very successful 2005 Season to put together yet another exciting and diverse series of cricket matches in 2006 at Entrecasteaux's lovely home pitch, and propose an extremely exciting season ahead with their sights set on matching and surpassing previous achievements.

This is a tall order, given the level of activity and success achieved in 2005, when ECC played a total of twenty-eight matches, eight more than ever before, won the SE League and jointly hold the SE Cup after a thrilling tied final against Monte Carlo. They undertook their first foreign tour to Lodi in Italy and ran out winners of the prestigious Golden Duck tournament there. ECC were honoured with a home fixture against a visiting MCC team and ran them close in a tough match. The social side of the Club also flourished with Family Days, Brunches and Barbecues, organised at a number of Friendly fixtures and Seniors matches.

Well, what's in store for the year ahead? The fixture list already looks healthy with around twenty matches. There will be SE League and Cup matches, many friendlies against visitors from England, Wales and Italy, a second visit to Italy to defend the Golden Duck Trophy and the ever-popular, end-of-season ECC Festival featuring the Entrecasteaux Sevens Tournament. Fun family days and seniors matches are also on the agenda, have a look at the exciting and pretty full attached Fixture Programme.

The great efforts of ECC's catering and fundraising team have enabled the Club to make significant improvements to both ground and equipment for the new season. This season ECC willl be buying a caravan to assist with the transport of equipment to and from the ground, a bowling machine for practice sessions, a new practice net and a new match scoreboard.

The continuing success of the Club depends on its members, whether they are first-team players, occasional players, groundsmen, scorers, umpires, organisers, caterers, fundraisers, supporters or benefactors.
